Rutgers University

Frequently Asked Questions

When are the meetings?
Our meetings are held weekly. A new time and location will be announced as the fall semester approaches.
Are the meetings held in German?
No, our meetings are always held in English, so that they are more accessible to the majority of Rutgers students.
How do I join?
It's easy to join! All you have to do is come to our meetings. Just show up to our next meeting or send an email to and ask to be added to the mailing list so that you get all the latest updates.
What does the German Club do ?
The main goal of the German Club is to promote and celebrate German culture. We hold weekly meetings in order to plan a number of exciting events each semester. For more on these events, visit our events page. To learn more about us and see our Constitution, please visit the about page.
Do you have to speak or study German or have German heritage to join the German Club?
Absolutely not! Our club is open to anyone who is interested in learning more about German culture and helping us to celebrate and share it with other Rutgers students.
Does the German Club provide any opportunities for me to learn German?
Our club is primarily a cultural organization, and we hold all of our meetings in English. Although you might pick up a bit of German as we use the German names for our celebrations (Oktoberfest and Karneval), visit German operas, and eat German food, we won't be able to help you learn the language. The best way to learn German is by taking a German course here at Rutgers. Visit the German Department website for more information.
